End of the month and time to look to see what I'm going to try to achieve in February.
Found these in a drawer
I bought these at a bring and buy in November 2009 along with a set of Uncharted Seas rules, and theyve lain there for the past 15 months or so, I think its about time I got these into a playable condition. So being as theyre an Elven fleet they'll need some suitable opposition, quick check on Wayland games and the cheapest (and easiest to paint) enemies for these guys looks like the Iron Dwarfs. £17.50 for a starter fleet including delivery.
Well that didnt take too long
the Elven fleet assembled and primed. :-)

Organisation (or lack of it)
Ok this ones really just for Cammie, sparked off by his post of trying to figure out what he's got in the way of unpainted/painted lead (or plastic). So here's my setup
This area as you might guess is where my paintings done, notice the storage drawers in the back, in these get stuffed any figs or vehicles that are part of a current project. One drawer per project, no empty drawer, no new project allowed. :-(
And this
is where it all ends up, dont worry there's lots more shelves and drawers full of stuff, but this is where the stuff I mostly play with ends up. This way Cammie I dont have to count figures or anything, I just look for the drawer on the paint table with the least stuff in it, paint the feck out of it until its done, then I can buy some new stuff. :-)

End of the month
End of the month and I didn't just break the 600 barrier, with this lot below
that lot there brings the monthly total to 704 painted. Now if I could only do that every month!

Wednesday Morning again
Well Wednesday has rolled round again and thats another 81 painted since Sunday
Thats 571 painted this month, will I break the 600 barrier?
Sunday, 23 January 2011
Sunday 23rd
Well its been a decent weekend with the paintbrush, 109 painted
Just need to get focused on the Carthaginians again, theyre past the halfway mark now, trouble is the FWC army is painting so fast (and easy) that I keep wanting to get more of it done.
I bought this fella off of one of my painting heroes Nik Harwood, I have a vague notion of using him as a Bone Giant in an undead Warmaster army
So 109 painted 1 bought.
bringing the totals so far this month to
Bought 385
Painted 490

Random diversions
Only the 22nd of the month and already I'm musing over end of month purchases.
As I've finished 3 projects I'm allowed to start a new one, but does an opposing army for an existing one count as a new project??? My gut feeling is no, as I habitually buy and paint both sides for any ruleset. So the consideration is no I wont be starting anything new this coming month but I will just be adding to what I have underway currently.
So my thoughts have been, do I blow the wargames budget on another complete army from Pendraken (who seem to have a portal into my wallet) or just buy some bits and pieces for other armies? I could do with some Boar riders for my Orcs, maybe another regiment of Continentals for the AWI project, and I could buy the first few units for either a Skaven or Undead army for Warmaster. Or I could just buy the Lancastrian army for War of the Roses.
Decisions, decisions, and still nine days of January to go.

January 2011
Well its been a good weeks painting :)
thats 133 painted this week :)
Just as well because its been a crap week for buying, due to an unexpected influx of cash I went and ordered a War of the Roses Yorkist army, a mere 384 figures, so despite a very good effort in the painting stakes, the lead mountain is still growing. :(
Early post this time, just to celebrate the fact that thats the last of the Andryadans painted :)
so painted 43, bought 0
The micro tanks are a from a Land Ironclads starter set the missus bought me for my birthday 7 months ago, so I thought it was about time I painted them and had a wee sample game.
Tomorrow I plan to dig all the Andryadans out of their boxes and have a photo call, ok, theyve all been photographed as theyve been painted but theres nothing more heartwarming than seeing a finished project en-masse.
As promised here they are
2nd project of the year completed, the Andys and 2 fleets for Aeronef, next scheduled to be completed is 2 small forces for Land Ironclads.
Well thats another 98 painted, not only that but thats the Land Ironclads finished as well.
New Carthaginian army arrived today, very happy
The bag of goodies
Oh what a lot of sorting to do
Sorted and piled
Re-bagged
The first unit of Poeni spearmen on the painting desk ready to be undercoated.
I'm quite looking forward to doing this project, how long is it gonna take me?? Well there's 14 units in the army not counting the General and a couple of leaders, so I'm hoping to do at least 2 to 3 units a week, so the far estimate is the end of February, but I'm hoping for mid-February. Now if only Mexican Dave would get a move on and at least buy his Romans we might even get a game in by April.
The full army, all prepped and stuck to their painting strips, to misquote Maximus from Gladiator, "on my signal, unleash paint!"
Well day 4 of the project already, and not too much progress, the General is done as is a unit of skirmishers
from the front
and from the rear.
Painting is at a standstill just now, busy packing stuff up for club night tonight, the Andryadans pictured above are making their debut, fighting Mexican Dave's Kraytonians, if I remember to take my camera I'll post a couple of piccies of the game.
I remembered the camera so here we go
The Andryadan warhost
Mexican Dave deploys with his usual cunning
One of Dave's sneaky recce units
Some of his superbly painted Infantry back up his other Recce unit
Dave admiring his painting
The Vanguard surge forward
Into range of Dave's tanks on the hilltop, now you see 'em
and now you dont, this was the way the whole game went with Dave leading with his tanks and concentrating on my walkers. Ok they went down like one-legged Elephants but that gave my infantry time to close the range, then Dave learned to fear the firepower of Andy infantry as his tank were brewing up right left and centre. It ended up a massacre for the Krayts with 20 units destroyed to a mere 7 Andys. Good result!
Day 7 of the Carthage project and things are looking a bit better
Thats the General done, 4 units done, the Elephants about halfway and there should be a unit of naked Gallic warband done by the end of the day, barring interruptions, like the Yorkist army arriving and me getting the "Oooh, shiny!!" normal distraction. So far this months totals are Bought : 384 Painted : 343, whoa, I only need to paint another 41 before the end of the month, and 14 days to do it.
Wednesday the 19th, well the Warcraft servers are down so time for a weekly look at what Gordon's paint brush has been waved in the general direction of
The usual eclectic mix, couple of 6mm Syrian tanks for an Arab/Israeli bash at some point, 3 15mm Sci-Fi troopers, an AWI 6 pounder and crew, and a few more Carthaginians.
Bought 384
Painted 381
Looking good.

December 2010
Well, halfway through the month and the totals are bought, 20, painted 66
so far so good. BUT and its a big but, Xmas is only 9 days away now and if its a normal Xmas I'll be getting a little cash as pressies, depending on the amount of cash that's gonna be used for the start of my second Seeds of War army or another squad or 2 for my Tomorrow's War platoon.
The distinct lack of painting this month is due mostly to Blizzard releasing their Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft, damn you Blizzard, I'm having way too much fun playing around with the new races, zones and professions to get much (if any) painting done.
Near enough the end of the month now (the 29th) so here's the progress
thats another 94 painted, bringing the months painting up to 160, but the Christmas cash I'm afraid bought another 724, so the grand totals for the month are Painted : 160 Bought : 744. The lead mountain isn't going in the desired direction.

November 2010
Bought 9
Well who can resist 9 28mm "Sweeney" figures for £3? Dont you just love "Bring and Buys"?
Painted 116
Ok its 6mm but its still more than I bought.
Thats the start of my Andryadan army for my current Seeds of War project, only another 32 Walkers and Flyers, a Titan type thingy and maybe 200 infantry to go. Theyre currently slated to be fielded as a Future War Commander army to face my regular opponent Mexican Dave's Kraytonians, eventually I'll convert him to the Seeds rules.
Thats the end of the month now and I've managed to get another 49 painted
That brings the total for the month to 165 painted.

Jumped Ship
Well I appear to have jumped ship from Wordpress as I like the look of Mexican Dave's and Cammie's blog better than what I was getting there.
